Rental Vehicle Requirements
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Thurrock, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. You need a valid full driving licence suitable for the vehicle category, held for the duration outlined in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of your current address are required, alongside acceptable payment information and a security deposit. Please ensure you meet any other requirements listed in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Options
- Reservations can be arranged via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Thurrock office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and security deposit are generally payable upon vehicle pickup. All rates are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept all major credit and debit cards through secure payment systems.
Vehicle Pick-Up and Drop-Off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is imperative to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be generated and must be signed by both parties. The vehicle should be returned in the same state as it was collected, aside from normal wear and tear. Additional insurance options may be offered to limit your financial liability, and we suggest reviewing these thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount unless further coverage is obtained. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violations of these Terms is your responsibility, irrespective of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited uses of rental vehicle:
- Use of the vehicle for any illegal activities is strictly prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or any other dangerous driving practices. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. The vehicle must only be used for its intended purpose, and adherence to passenger and weight limits is required. Operating the vehicle outside the designated geographical boundaries without prior approval is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Thurrock will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the rental in the past year. This does not affect our liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
